The story of FEBC's impact often weaves through generations and families in unexpected ways. In 1950s Hong Kong, a young Goldie found herself at FEBC's microphone, her Beijing-born mother's Mandarin heritage opening a small but significant door to broadcast ministry.
Decades later, in 1980s Perth, Goldie and Kwong Tek Chong, along with Tek's brother Kwong Wai and his wife Siew Ngo, pioneered Full Gospel Assembly (FGA) Perth. Their commitment to missions was clear from the church's 1987 inauguration, dedicating 10% of its income to various mission organisations. The Chongs were also by then leading Malaysia's Christian magazine Asian Beacon.
Late in 1988, their paths crossed with Simon Chan, a young Perth engineer preparing for missionary service with FEBA Seychelles. "When we heard Simon would be speaking about his upcoming missionary journey, we invited him to share at our church," Goldie recalls.
What began as a missions presentation led to an unexpected blessing. At Simon's first service at FGA, he met San Ling, Siew Ngo's niece. With gentle encouragement from church and family, their relationship blossomed into marriage after Simon's Seychelles assignment.
This divine connection strengthened Goldie and Tek's bond with FEBC, extending from initial support during Simon's deputation to an ongoing partnership that continues today. It demonstrates how God uses personal relationships to build lasting ministry connections across generations.
