Oum Nhep is 78 years old. Her back is bent with age. But when she heard about the Cambodia Community Bible Institute – CCBI – she didn’t hesitate. She signed up. “Even though I’m old, I still have a mission,” she told her family.
Oum Nhep is one of 560 students across 12 provinces who gathered in 2025 to study God’s Word through CCBI – a discipleship program run by Voice of Love (VOL), the local FEBC Partner in Cambodia. VOL operates Krusa FM, the country’s only Christian radio station, and CCBI extends that ministry far beyond the broadcast signal – right into the villages where believers like Oum Nhep live and serve.
Here’s what makes CCBI so different. Most of the students can’t read. So the program is built around small solar-powered speaker boxes loaded with audio Scripture curriculum. Every three months, the content is swapped out for the next module. Students gather in their local church, listen together, discuss what they’ve heard, and begin applying it in their homes and communities. They’re being rooted in God’s Word – studying it, discussing it, living it.
In a village about 20 kilometres from the Thai border in Battambang Province, 15 members of one church are studying through CCBI. The pastor says the audio program teaches the Old and New Testaments better than he can on his own. And the fruit is already showing.
One woman, a new Christian, was drawn to the courage of David – his dedication to always ask for God’s direction. Her son was the first in the family to come to Christ. Now he reads the Bible aloud to the family. The faith is growing and multiplying – one household at a time.
A few hundred kilometres away in Kampong Chhnang Province, a Krusa FM listener, Srey Mom, explained the impact of the CCBI audio program : “I can’t read very well, but through studying God’s Word, I’ve learned to trust Him more and pray more often than before.”
That’s discipleship. Oum Nhep at 78, still hungry to go deeper. A new believer in Battambang, whose son reads the Bible to the whole family. The speaker boxes provided through your generosity, carrying God’s Word into places it’s never been.
