This Christmas, we are reminded of the true meaning of the season: the arrival of Jesus, the Light of the World, bringing hope and salvation to all.

In Laos, where being a Christian comes with great challenges, Som* and his wife Sunya* courageously dedicated their lives to spreading the Gospel through FEBC’s media programs and church planting. Known as "dad and mum" to the young people they mentored, they became pillars of their community, embodying God’s love and faithfulness in a region often hostile to their message.

Tragically, in July this year, Som was shot in front of his family for his faith. His death left a profound void in their lives and the wider community. Despite this loss, his unwavering faith and resilience continue to shine as a testament to the light of Jesus amidst persecution. His story inspires us to stand firm and remain committed to sharing God’s love, no matter the cost.

FEBC Australia partners with brave individuals like Som, who bring the Gospel to some of the most difficult places in the world. Your support this Christmas will enable us to continue sharing God’s light—on air, online, and on the ground—ensuring that even in the darkest places, the message of hope and salvation reaches those who need it most.

We also invite you to pray that God will raise up faithful men and women to carry on the powerful radio broadcasts that Som so passionately created for speakers of his heart language. These programs reach those yet to encounter Jesus and nurture the faith of new believers.

As we celebrate Jesus’ birth, may we be encouraged by His words in John 8:12:
"I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life."
