Position: Data Analyst

ROLE SUMMARY

The Data Analyst role sits within the Fundraising and Marketing team and is responsible for driving continuous improvement in fundraising activity, data management processes, reporting, providing insightful solutions. This role ensures the Fundraising and Marketing team have the right information to make strategic decisions and effective communications. The Data Analyst will ensure a high standard of analysis and reporting on donor programs and performances, with a strong focus on our Individual, Regular and Major Giving program to ensure the systems and data are in place to enable strong relationships and maximum revenue.

This role will also aid in the implementation of best practice database management and use, preserving data integrity and security; and helping other team members to facilitate a culture of measurement, metrics and insights. This role will be hands on in the maintenance and use of FEBC’s database and overall data architecture. As FEBC embarks on a strategy to increase funding of our Mission and vital overseas projects, the need for active data has grown.

Normal office hours are 8.30am to 4.00pm
Flexibility in office hours, days and location is possible.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY / RESPONSIBILITY

1. Automation of reporting and dashboards for direct marketing performance and targets

1.1. Maintain and update in-house reports that track campaign results and monitor performance to annual targets on a regular basis

1.2. Work with external suppliers on delivery of regular reports/data for printing or other purposes, reviewing regularly to meet changing demands

1.3. Undertake post-campaign analysis, producing reports showing key metrics and measure of overall strategy effectiveness to allow recommendations for future activities

1.4. Evaluate and report on outcomes of testing activities, statistical validity and recommendations

1.5. Identify gaps in current reporting, data entry, processes and/or analysis, and advice new ways or amended processes. 2. Providing informed insights on program and donor behaviour that will deliver improved results

2.1. Analyse and interrogate data in areas such as gross, net lifetime value (LTV), channel analysis, RFV analysis, and attrition. Predictive modelling skills will be a plus.

2.2. Identify high performance areas, historical trends and performance issues; and transform these into recommendations

2.3. Provide visual representation of data for ease of use and insights

3. Support excellent data integrity and database management processes

3.1. Work collaboratively with donor processing team to ensure effective data capture is in place to support analysis of data and test strategies

3.2. Support the ongoing development and maintenance of the donor database, Blackbaud’s E-Tapestry, and other platforms linked to it from payment gateways, Xero and Shopify among others

3.3. Ensure data, segmentation and personalisation is optimised. Work includes liaison with vendors alongside the marketing team to ensure lists, segments and personalisation of data is error free. Clean and finalise campaign files for multiple channels – direct mail, telemarketing, email, social media, google/Facebook ads

3.4. Identify issues with database integrity, security and structure that could impact our data analysis and help implement quality control and integrity procedures to deliver excellent data

3.5. Perform regular data hygiene checks to ensure integrity of data including suggesting any new queries/processes that should be put in place to highlight issues of data irregularity or incomplete data capture

3.6. Assist fundraising and marketing team with development of queries, data extraction processes, and bank reconciliation. Assist with donation processing during busy times and during staff absences.

3.7. Aid in reviewing, documenting and communicating existing data processes and business rules with a view for transparency and improvement. Ensure data processes meets the Australian Privacy legislation on capturing, storing and using personal information

SELECTION PROCESS

STEP 1 – Shortlisting after interviews 

STEP 2 – Shortlisted candidates will be tested for proficiency in Excel (Pivot tables, V-Look up) and SQL through a written test involving manipulation of data, tables, building simple reports and visualisation. 

STEP 3 – Final interview  

SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge – Minimum 3 years’ experience in similar roles in data base/CRM management, data analysis, donation processing procedures, marketing campaign performance analysis and reporting.

– Demonstrated knowledge of LTV and RFV modelling

– Ability to respond to a data analysis brief to clarify requirements.

– Possess a solution and results focus, with solid reasoning, capacity for critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities

– Absolute commitment to accuracy, ability to multi-task and maintain meticulous attention to detail and deadlines

– Ability to identify areas of improvement in processes and assist with implementation

– An understanding of Australian Privacy Principles and legal requirements of capturing, storing and using personal information

– Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written), with the ability to keep team members informed about status of work, managing donor and supporter service expectations, and working cooperatively at all levels

– Advanced skills in excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot tables).

– Keen for continuous learning and development by keeping up with market and industry trends

– Ability to work collaboratively within a team, contributing ideas, sharing knowledge

– Able to work autonomously, self-motivated, organised

Highly Desirable Skills, Attributes and Qualities – Degree/Diploma in Computer Sciences, Statistics, Data Sciences or related qualifications.- VB and Sequel (SQL) skills are desirable and will be a plus.
