The people of North Korea, living in one of the most repressed nations in the world, are hearing the Good News through FEBC broadcasts. Construction of a more powerful AM station to provide greater coverage and stronger signals was completed on the island of Daebu, South Korea, in late 2020. The new station can reach all of North Korea.
As more people discover God’s love through our broadcasts, lives will be changed and hope restored to millions living in this isolated nation. North Koreans are hungry for God’s love. For years people have been praying fervently for the opportunity to share the Gospel in North Korea. Finally, and despite oppressive and controlling leadership, God’s Word is making its way into this insulated country and reaching people like Ms. Lim:
“I used to listen to the radio at 2:00 am with a blanket over my head to prevent anyone from hearing. I heard the Gospel for the first time through FEBC. It was amazing! Now, my family are all Christians. I know real peace and joy for the first time in my life. When I was alone and my soul was hungry, you offered me spiritual nourishment.”
FEBC broadcasts are providing listeners in North Korea with an understanding of what it means to be free in Christ, even in the midst of constraint. Hope is critical to the human spirit, and the people of North Korea, many of whom are stripped of daily necessities and human dignity, need the hope, freedom and love of Christ.
That’s exactly what they hear when they tune into FEBC broadcasts. Another listener, who is now an FEBC employee, shares his spiritual journey:
“When I was nine, the government took both of my parents away… When I got older, I knew there was no such thing as freedom in my country, and I decided to flee. After arriving in South Korea, I felt unbearable sorrow for those I left behind. But then I met God. Believing in Him, I finally understood what it feels like to be a free man. I’m now willing to do whatever it takes to spread the Good News to my fellow North Koreans back home.”
All of us have a need for God, including the people of North Korea. The reason: God made us to be in relationship with Him. As the Good News of Jesus finds its way into this persecuted nation, people are beginning to learn this truth for themselves. Please pray that as the people of North Korea hear God’s Word they will know the truth and the truth will set them free.
