Preparing teens for a confusing world

Whisper is a radio program for teenagers to call in anonymously to ask questions about sex education and reproductive health, a taboo subject they are unable to talk to their parents about. Due to lack of education, sexually transmitted diseases and unexpected pregnancies are a real risk: “We are able to provide a safe, anonymous place for their questions, whilst knowing they are representative of their peers, meaning when we answer their questions on-air we are also meeting the needs of many others,” said Bat. “If needed we then take it to the next level, so many of our teens callers will come in and meet with our psychologists for private, in-depth face-to-face counselling.”

Digital radio, internet and apps are also real opportunities for FEBC Mongolia to reach teens, ensuring FEBC Mongolia is ‘right where they are at’ on their devices and smart phones.
