Kazakhstan is a very large Central Asian country that shares borders with Russia, China, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Marat lives with his family in Almaty, a city set beneath a picturesque mountainous area.
Recently Marat spoke to a member of FEBC’s Kazakhstan team.
He said, “My parents brought me up under the ‘banner’ of the Communist Party. Therefore, I grew up with the ideology that rejects the very existence of God. Then, I came across your broadcast by some sort of accident.
“You talked about Jesus, and that He is alive even today. It was most interesting to hear about the death and resurrection of Jesus. His sacrifice for mankind somehow impressed me. I have seen the Orthodox church buildings and crosses however, I never thought about the meaning behind them.
“You might have a hard time believing me, however, it all was quite surprising to me. It made me think about God. You definitely have a listener now. Hopefully, I will be able to find some truth in all of it.”
It is for people like Marat that our radio ministry exists. There are still multitudes, especially in the nominally Muslim countries of the former USSR, that have not yet been reached with the saving Gospel of our Lord Jesus and who have no conscious understanding of what God is like.
Please pray for Marat and people like him, that they will get to know Jesus, Who is alive and wants to save them.
