The team in Mongolia held a mini-marathon event as a fundraising activity to raise funds to purchase winter fuel for poor families in need of some assistance. In total the team raised over 1100 USD from listeners, businesses and entry fees of those competing in the marathon.
Urgently needed food items and 20.5 tonnes of fuel were distributed amongst 15 families (all with 6 or more children) in need. The team also gifted each family a radio in the hope that they would be encouraged to listen to FEBC life-changing family orientated programs. Most of the families who received the fuel and support were from single parent households, including a grandmother who has been left to care for her grandchildren.
The families were delighted and shared these heartfelt thank you notes:
‘Thank you for initiating and arranging this donation for us. Having fuel to keep our families warm during the cold winter months is a challenge for us as we are not well off. Thank you so much!’
‘We have 9 children and we can now provide them warm home. There’s no need for them to wear thick clothes indoors. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for this initiative.’
